Artists at all levels – from beginners to professionals – are welcome at classes and workshops in our large, well-equipped studio. Our award-winning artist-teachers and guest instructors encourage both youngsters and adults to develop their creativity, style and skill while exploring their artistic ideas in a comfortable, supportive atmosphere.

Participants in RAC classes have an opportunity to display their work during "From the RAC Studio", our annual January exhibition, which spotlights art by our instructors and their students from the previous year.

Periodic demonstrations and lectures by nationally-recognized professionals attract art appreciators as well as artists.

We recently installed a chair lift that improves access to our second-floor studio. This was made possible through donations by RAC members and other supporters. Click for donor list.

FREE ART EXPLORATION OPPORTUNITIES:

RAC & the Rowayton Library Host Art21 Screenings -- During the last decade, Art21 has established itself as the preeminent chronicler of contemporary art and artists through its Peabody Award-winning biennial television series, "Art in the Twenty-First Century." Adults and teens who are interested Art are invited to join us for screenings of selected episodes that focus on artists from around the world at work and speaking in their own words. • Sunday, June 9 -- Art21 Screening: "Ecology" -- 3:00-4:00 p.m. View this episode on the large screen in RAC's upstairs studio, then enjoy the free Portside show reception for "Seasons of the Norwalk Land Trust" at 4:00 p.m. How is our understanding of the natural world deeply cultural? "Ecology" explores this question through profiles of artists Robert Adams, Mark Dion, Inago Manglano-Ovalle and Ursula von Rydingsvard.
